I have memories of my aunt visiting from Saudi Arabia and bringing back little trinkets of the evil eye. It always fascinated me. Aesthetically, the contrast of the blue and white was striking. Then when I started working I caught myself drawing an evil eye and sticking to the back of my chair when I felt like people were back stabbing me.

Suddenly in the past few years, the evil eye has become a fashion staple. From jewellery designers of Sydney Evan to Nicole Ritchie’s jewellery line Harlowe – I am seeing evil eyes everywhere, Even Instyle Magazine is featuring it.

So we commissioned jewllery designer Kimberly Lang to come up with Goneshopping’s bling bling version of the evil eye. What do you think?

Sterling silver encrusted with Swarovski crystals.

It is amazing how much money you can save ( put the Eco in Economics) by using reusable water bottles ie Klean Kanteen; reusable baggies, lunch boxes, micro fibre clothes instead of paper towels and BaaLLs ( reusable dryer balls that reduces drying time.

Saving $ and saving money - we love it.

Gal Pal Deodorant Removal Pads

Nothing says ‘I got dressed in a rush this morning because I had to get the kids out the door first’ like a white swipe of deodorant across the side of your black sweater. And of course, you never discover it until you’re already sitting down at that important meeting. But if you keep the Original Gal Pal in your purse, car or desk, you can be streak-free in seconds. The reusable, dry-use foam pad lifts up deodorant streaks and residue perfectly without water and without harming the fabric. They pay for themselves in dry-cleaning costs, and wipe away that less-than-savvy feeling of discovering a deodorant mark on your favourite LBD. ($14.99, available fromGoneshopping.ca)

One day I was walking my dog and dropped by Holt Renfrew. It was packed !!! Turns out there was a John Hardy trunk show and the head designer Guy was there engraving pieces if you purchase the same day.

Since that day, I have become a big fan of John Hardy jewllery. Well designed, handcrafted, eco-conscious and every piece is art.

My favourite ring is this large circular ring that you would wear on your middle finger in black sapphire. It is breathtaking.

John Hardy black sapphire ring

Then we received this pendant from Kimberlely Lang Jewllery this week.. She is known for using swarovski crystals or designer cubic zirconia to create stylish keepsake pieces.

Kimberley Lang swarovski crystal set in Sterling silver

Do you think it is a good match? C$1090 for the ring at Holt Renfrew vs $58.99 at Goneshopping.ca

I was invited to a surprise birthday party where it stated gag gifts only. However, all those over the hill t-shirts, potty books, Depends…..are over done. The challenge is to fine something funny yet practical. After all, I wanted something that is kinda of a keepsake. The Light it up cufflinks by Cuffwear was the answer.

So when I presented the gift at the party :

“Happy Birthday XXX, you are one of my brilliant friends but I am concern about you voicing your opinions in meetings. From all the years I know you, you are so soft spoken and polite , since we are not in grade school and you cannot put up hand when we have an opinion, I thought these cufflinks would come in handy.

Press the button, you the light bulb goes off and it will make sure everyone knows.”

It was a hit!!!

I am so sick and tired of this weather. Cannot believe that we are still wearing coats in May. However, it seems like Spring is finally approaching as I stare out the window to my garden and see the hostas starting to peep out from the ground.

After a fall winter of neutrals – grey, black, cream, browns…..I am ready to add some colour to my wardrobe and home.

Part I – attack the wardrobe since we lost May to the crappy weather ( low temperature and rain) I want to get the biggest bang for my buck for this short season. Take advantage of the sales at GAP, they got 25-40% off on tanks and summer pieces. Lots of reds vs neutrals, purples, green and peaches/ light pink ( which personally I am not a fan of, well because it looks like crap on me) Use them as layering pieces to things you already have.

Accessorize with bling – belts and jewlery. Everything at Goneshopping.ca, Jenny and I hand picked ourselves. So easy, splash on some colour to your basic wardrobe and you are ready to go.

A handbag insert with compartments that keeps everything in place and makes changing purses a breeze.

As seen in InStyle, O, Shape and Cosmopolitan Magazines, Savvymom.ca, sweetmama.ca and the “A” Morning Show.

Handbags are not just a necessity but a fashion statement. Men do not understand but WE need our bags (different sizes, shapes, colours and finishes). However, it is such an effort to transfer your “life” from one bag to another. In addition, if you are like Jacqui who carries dog treats, iPhone, lip gloss, concealer, cheque book, sunglasses, keys, pen, RuMe bags , purse caddy, work pass, etc. in her handbag, it is a treasure hunt everytime she looks for her keys at the bottom of the purse. Urgh!!!

So you can imagine how excited we were to come across the Cherry Handbag Organizer! Unlike some of the cheapie ones that we have tested, the sturdy nylon material is water resistant, holds up well with all our junk and gives our LV Speedy bag some shape.

Now Available in Red, Silver, Black and Pink and 3 sizes.
